Since the introduction of the Magazine radio programme, BCL studios have invested in digital on-air broadcast technology which will cope with not only on-air use, but to also house a full radio play-out system for customer use and programme makers.
The desk at the centre of the radio studio is a Studer on air 2000 touch screen Digital console. the console is configured with four digital AES/EBU inputs for the Myriad audio wall playout system which includes a fully programmed designed keyboard to fully utilize the Myriad software without the need for constantly going to the PC with a mouse, 1 digital AES/EBU input for a Denon DN-990-R mini disc player/recorder, 1 SP input for the jingle cart player (JazzlerShow), 2 x Microphone inputs, and 4 analogue or digital inputs for CD players, Monitoring is via a pair of Genelec 1029a Active speakers along with one small footprint PC which sits on top of the console for web access.
We have a range of both cardioid and condenser microphones for the desk, the standard is a Shure SM7. the microphone control is a Symetrix 601 Digital Voice Processor. There are also other outboard equipment such as the Audio Design DBL1 Digital Broadcast Limiter, TC Finalizer 96k, and the Waves L2 Ultramaximiser.
